Piracy – Malacca Strait pirates dealt blow by Asian tsunami

Reuters – Deadly bands of pirates robbing ships and kidnapping crews in the Malacca Strait may have been dealt a body blow by the tsunami that tore through the Indian Ocean last month, an anti-piracy watchdog said.

US Navy – Clark, chief of naval operations, confirms retirement

Virginian Pilot – Admiral Vern Clark, the Navy’s top officer, said today he will retire this summer after five years as chief of naval operations – the second-longest tenure in the history of the Navy.

US Navy – Navy may retire JFK early, move carrier from Norfolk

Virginian Pilot – The Navy wants to retire the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy this year, months earlier than had been expected, and is seriously contemplating the transfer of another flattop from Norfolk to the Kennedy’s home in Mayport, Florida.
