Iraq – Pentagon Blamed for Lack of Postwar Planning in Iraq

Washington Post – Thomas Ricks on a study of U.S. military operations in Iraq, prepared for Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld by the RAND corporation, sharply criticizes Pentagon attempts to plan for the aftermath of the U.S.-led invasion two years ago, saying stabilization and reconstruction issues “were addressed only very generally” and “no planning was undertaken to ensure the security of the Iraqi people.”

Indian Navy – Karwar naval base getting ready to float

Times of India – Even as Pakistan gets ready to inaugurate its spanking new Gwadar deep-sea port, built with Chinese help in Baluchistan, India’s plans to gain “strategic depth” are also taking concrete shape now after a long delay. The futuristic Karwar naval base on the western coast will progressively become operational – albeit in a truncated manner – over the next few months.
